What this course offers you
- If you're interested in aircraft maintenance engineering and the idea of signing-off aircraft as fit to fly, this is the course for you.
- It is specifically designed to help meet the growing need for skilled aircraft maintenance engineers. Our fully-accredited courses meet the exacting requirements of the industry's licensing bodies, which will help you fast track a career in aircraft maintenance and its management. A predicted shortfall of 5,000–6,000 aircraft engineers in the next four years means it will stand you in good stead.
- You get to work with cutting-edge facilities from the start of your course up to its completion and to work alongside industry leaders like KLM UK Engineering.
- In addition to academic study, you take work-based modules that give you hands-on experience of:
- aircraft components and equipment replacement;
- inspection;
- condition monitoring; and
- fault diagnosis and rectification.
- You also gain an understanding of the work environment and legal requirements relating to the operation of commercial aircraft.
- Resources include:
- a Lear Jet;
- a classic 747 simulator (used as a ground engineer training tool); and
- an F27 fuselage to take apart and put back together.
- This course is unique to Kingston University. We have been given the Award of Excellence in Maintenance Training by the EITM.
- After successfully completing the course and a further period of work experience, you can apply for a European Aviation Safety Agency maintenance licence.
