Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul introductory year, foundation degree FdEng and top-up year BSc(Hons): After you graduate

Where this course will take you

The maintenance, repair and overhaul introductory year and foundation degree are designed to start you on the career path to becoming a licensed aircraft engineer or in another aircraft-related role.

The MRO industry offers some of the best hands-on jobs in the world. Working for an aircraft MRO organisation, you can become highly skilled on airframes or other components that make up the aircraft (such as the landing gear, engines or avionics systems).

On successful completion of the foundation degree, you may be able to top up to our Aircraft Engineering BSc(Hons).

The aerospace industry employs 250,000 people and has an annual turnover in excess of £18 billion in the UK (according to Society of British Aerospace Companies data 2009).

The 21st century will continue to see revolutionary changes to aircraft design – from environmentally-friendly aeroplanes to space tourism vehicles. Aeronautical or aerospace engineers design, develop and maintain products such as airliners, helicopters, fighter jets, satellites and space vehicles.
