Find out more about teaching and facilities at the AeroAcademy

Teaching for the foundation degree takes place at Marshall Aerospace's AeroAcademy, one of Europe's leading privately-owned aerospace companies with all the capabilities of an aircraft manufacturer. The AeroAcademy is based at Marshall's own airport in Cambridge, England.

AeroAcademy

The Academy is a specialist provider of career and technical training to support civil and military aircraft maintenance and operation. Alongside the new foundation degree, the Academy offers courses for both the defence and civil sectors including:

  • EASA Part 66;
  • Aircraft Type training (Airbus, Boeing, Cessna and Hercules);
  • Regulatory, Health, Safety and Security; and
  • Professional development for technicians, engineers and managers.

Marshall Airport, Cambridge UK

The airport holds a Public Use Licence and can accept public transport aircraft up to Boeing B747 or Airbus A320 size. The airport is the home of Marshall Business Aviation, and a dedicated executive charter aircraft fleet. Marshall Aerospace operates a full Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO) facility for military and civil aircraft, which has some of the largest hangars in Europe and provides extensive design, development and test capabilities on site.

Facilities

The AeroAcademy campus is based in a newly converted facility with a full range of modern training aids. The EASA approved facilities also include access to a small library and Kingston University's online learning resource, together with workshops covering the hand skills required to work in the industry. Aircraft practical experience is not part of the foundation course although there will be many opportunities to consolidate the theory aspects of the course through visits to the Marshall Aerospace facilities and other aircraft related organisations.

Teaching staff

You will be taught by professionally qualified instructors, with many years experience of working in the aerospace sector. Tutors use e-learning teaching techniques, as well as hands-on training in the learning workshop.
