Art and Design (Foundation) Diploma: Links with business and industry

How we work with industry partners

All members of staff are practising artists and designers.  This means:

  • their teaching includes up-to-date professional experience;
  • they can tell you what life in industry is really like; and
  • they can help balance creating inspiring, challenging work with meeting the needs of your client.

Our tutors aim to lead by example, showing you that they are just as excited as you about work and the future.  Many are award winning artists and designers with staff members.  In 2006, for example, staff members:

  • won national illustration awards;
  • were invited to lecture in Japan by the British Council; and
  • appeared on national TV during 'live' fine art projects.

Wherever possible, we introduce real-life projects. Examples of these include:

  • working on the publicity campaign for the Eadweard Muybridge Festival in Kingston;
  • a live crit next to magician David Blaine's endurance stunt;
  • publicity materials for a new gallery in Kingston town centre;
  • working with UCAS on a recycling project; and
  • producing animated creatures for a 'Domestos' campaign for Unilever.

Wherever possible, you enter the public eye and have a 'real' experience of cutting-edge art and design.
