Aerospace Engineering, Astronautics & Space Technology MEng/BEng(Hons): Entry requirements

Entry requirements for 2017

Typical offer: BEng(Hons)

  • Points: minimum 112 – 144, depending on qualifications.
  • A Levels: 112 points from three A Levels to include Maths and Science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). General studies and Native Language are not included in tariff points.
  • BTEC National: Extended Diploma in Engineering or related subject (Aerospace/Aeronautical/Electrical/Electronic/Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering considered) – 128 points.
  • BTEC National: Extended Diploma in Applied Science considered – 144 points.
  • Access to HE in a suitable Engineering subject: minimum of 60 credits overall with 15 Level 2 credits and 45 Level 3 credits. All Maths and Physics modules must be at Level 3 with Distinction grades.
  • Plus GCSE A–C (or comparable numeric score under the newly reformed GCSE gradings): five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

  • Points: minimum 128, depending on qualifications.
  • A Levels: 128 points from three A Levels to include Maths and two Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Maths). General studies and Native Language are not included in tariff points.
  • BTEC National: Extended Diploma in Engineering or related subject (Aerospace/Aeronautical/Electrical/Electronic/Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering considered) – 144 points.
  • BTEC National: Extended Diploma in Applied Science considered – 152 points.
  • Plus GCSE A–C (or comparable numeric score under the newly reformed GCSE gradings): five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Other entry routes 

  • Engineering foundation year.
  • We will consider a range of alternative qualifications or experience that are equivalent to those listed above. Applications from international students with equivalent qualifications are welcome. Please contact us for details.

English language requirements

All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirements. For this course it is Academic IELTS of 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5. Please make sure you read our full guidance about English language requirements, which includes details of other qualifications we'll consider.

Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements may be eligible to join our pre-sessional English language course.

Applicants from one of the recognised Majority English Speaking Countries (MESCs) do not need to meet these requirements.
