What this course offers you

  • Automotive engineers design, test and develop vehicles and/or components from concept stage through to production. They are also involved in improving the vehicle in response to customer feedback once on the market.
  • This course combines theory with practical applications. You gain:
    • a thorough technical understanding of the subject;
    • high-quality automotive engineering skills; and
    • an awareness of business and management issues.
  • This degree is accredited by the Institution of Incorporated Engineers and satisfies the academic requirements for incorporated engineer status.
  • Design is a key component of this course.
  • Subjects such as maths, engineering science and structural mechanics give you a theoretical background. The engineering design modules provide complementary skills throughout the degree.
  • The dedicated automotive modules cover:
    • different engine and transmission types; and
    • braking, steering and chassis systems.
  • Project modules mean you can also study a particular area in greater depth.
