Teaching and assessment for this course

Please note: This course is only available to students from SVKM in Mumbai, who take the first two years in Mumbai and join Kingston in England for their final year.

Teaching methods vary from course to course, but most taught undergraduate programmes are delivered through lectures, seminars, tutorials, computer laboratories and library-based study, together with optional work experience.

Assessment methods include end-of-module exams and coursework, which could either be group-based or individual work.

Our Academic Skills Centres also provide one-to-one support and advice on the techniques you need to be a successful student including:

  • research skills.

During your degree you will develop the independence, creativity and excellent communication skills that we know employers look for in successful graduates.

Assessment

Assignments are designed not just to test what you know, but to help you develop your knowledge, skills and confidence. 

Because we want you to reach your full potential in every assignment, we build in opportunities for practice and 'feed forward' on assessment tasks so that you will know what you need to do to perform at your best when you submit your work.

When we return your work, we give you clear feedback that will show you what you need to work on next time. You'll have the opportunity to discuss the comments on your work one-to-one with your lecturers and your personal tutor.

Personal tutors

When you arrive, we'll introduce you to your personal tutor – the member of academic staff who will keep a particular eye on your progress throughout your time at Kingston University (and after you graduate) and who will show you how to make the best use of all the help and resources that we offer at Kingston University.

Your tutor will give you academic guidance and will make sure that you know how to access our other support services if you need them.

Contact hours for this course

Each level is made up of four modules each worth 30 credit points. Typically a student must complete 120 credits at each level. All students will be provided with the University regulations during the induction period, and at each level of study full details of each module will be provided in module descriptors and student module guides.

Workload for this course

At the heart of the programme is the combination of theory and business practice. Research-active staff expose students to current research developments, whilst industry guest speakers provide additional opportunities to relate these to practice. Furthermore, assignments typically require substantial primary and secondary research to be undertaken, thereby ensuring students progressively develop their analytical and entrepreneurial skills at each level of the programme. The assessment strategy ensures that students have explicit formative opportunities for practice and 'feed forward' designed to help them achieve their full potential in summative assessment. A range of methods will be selected to actively engage students, including problem and enquiry-based learning, industry research and peer-assisted learning.
