Business Information Technology BSc(Hons): Learning support

Classes

Your lectures are supported by smaller tutorial groups and seminars plus practical sessions. You will have:

  • individual assignments;
  • group projects; and
  • the chance to gain work experience with real clients.

These varied teaching methods make learning more interesting and help reinforce your understanding. The smaller tutorial and seminar groups make sure you get individual attention, while the practical work brings the subject to life. The real client project work also lets you demonstrate your practical business ability to prospective employers.

Additional academic support

There is a range of support available, so, whatever difficulties you face, we'll help you to achieve your full potential.

Tutors

The course and module leaders have set office hours during which you can get one-to-one help and support if you need it.

Academic skills advisers

Academic skills advisers hold drop-in sessions three or four times a week. These sessions give you the chance to work through any academic skills issues that you feel are holding back your work.

Literacy support

We have a professional literacy support person who can help you improve your English language skills. Just make an appointment or drop in. Plus we run special classes to help overseas students improve their English.

Student liaison officer

We have a full-time student liaison officer who will provide any additional support, advice and assistance you may need throughout your time at the University.

Web-based support

StudySpace

StudySpace is a web-based learning management system that provides access to a host of information and material to assist with your studies. Its resources vary from module to module. For example, it might include:

  • subject guides;

Other useful features are online discussion forums (bulletin boards), a virtual classroom and a drop box (for online submission of coursework).
