Business and Professional Administration FdA: Learning support

Classes

Smaller group tutorials, workshops or computer laboratory sessions usually support the lectures. The range of subjects covered on your degree means we use a variety of teaching formats in the Business School. For example, a tutorial may involve:

  • researching a group project;
  • giving a talk about something you have worked on; or
  • discussing a case study.

There are lots of interactive elements and we encourage you to put your own thoughts and ideas forward.

The range of learning formats we use also means that each subject is taught in the most effective way and there's lots of variety. The interactive elements make learning fun, interesting and easier. You're not only taking part, but also hearing different views and discussing how to apply what's being taught. Plus smaller tutorial groups ensure that you also get the teacher's individual attention.

Additional academic support

We aim to support you during your time at Kingston so that, whatever difficulties you face, you can achieve your full potential.

When you join the course you are assigned a personal tutor who will provide academic help and support throughout your studies. In addition, you can turn to individual module leaders or the overall course leader for extra advice.

As much of this course is developed through work-based projects, you will also be supported by a mentor in your workplace.

Web-based support

StudySpace

StudySpace is a web-based learning management system that provides access to a host of information and material to assist with your studies. Its resources vary from module to module. For example, it might include:

  • subject guides;
  • lecture notes;
  • presentations; and
  • even sound and video clips.

Other useful features are online discussion forums (bulletin boards), a virtual classroom and a drop box (for online submission of coursework).
