Business Studies BA(Hons): Business School First Year

Benefits of the shared first year

All Kingston Business School students studying an undergraduate degree programme have a shared first year.

We know that it can be difficult to decide on the exact direction you wish your studies to take before you start. So having a shared first year means that you may be able to transfer from the first year of one course to the second year of another.

What do I study on the Business School First Year?

The following modules provide the knowledge and skills needed to underpin all our business and management courses:

  • Financial Accounting for Non-Specialists (or Financial Accounting if you are on an accounting course)
  • Business Environment
  • Business Information Systems or Information Technology for Business
  • Managing Yourself or Managing Yourself and Others
  • Quantitative Methods or Mathematics for Business

You also take at least one of the following depending on your course:

  • Foreign Language
  • Law
  • Management Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Software Development and Computing Laboratory
