Part-time route

The part-time course (beginning at Year 2) is designed for those working in industry who have an HNC/HND or equivalent qualifications and who wish to improve their professional skills and achieve chartered status.

What modules you will study and when

The course is conducted over a period of four academic year on a modular basis. Each academic year consists of two modules (30 credits each).

Year 1

  • Module CE5011 – Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering 1
  • Module CE5013 – Structural Engineering 1 and Construction Materials

Year 2

  • Module CE5012 – Engineering Surveying
  • Module CE5014 – Project Engineering and Business Management

Year 3

  • Module CE6011 – Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering 2
  • Module CE6013 – Structural Engineering 2 and Group Design

Year 4

  • Module CE6012 – Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment
  • Module CE6014 – Individual Project and Research Method

Attendance

You will attend one day per week for all lectures in a module including tutorials and laboratories. Also, you will need to take into account the attendance for the three fieldtrips.

  • Geotechnical fieldtrip in the Year 1
  • Engineering surveying fieldtrip in Year 2
  • Geotechnical and hydraulics fieldtrip in Year 3

Exams are normally take place in May.

E-learning

Our web-based system called StudySpace hosts all lecture material, notes, and assignments etc. for your subjects, allowing you to supplement your learning at the University with private study time at home or at the office.
