Since graduating, Rafael has gone on to work in a verity of roles such as visual effects artist, compositor and 3D generalist for companies like Realise Studio, Toothpix and Prime Focus and worked on commercials and films such as Nike and Kingsman: The Secret Service. Read about his experiences:

"It all started when I first watched Pixars's Toy Story while I was young, I realised that I wanted to work where I could create incredibly impossible imagery. Having grown up in Brazil I realised that I wanted to study abroad where I could gain the skills to do this, so I found this course at Kingston University.

I really enjoyed studying Maya modelling, texturing, lighting and animation. I found I also liked compositing 3D with live action, and was able to appreciate the complexities of digital imagery through lectures and workshops and experiment with friends that I made on my course.

We all know that Pixars's Toy Story is a full computer-animated film, but I ended up being a nuke compositor – a 2.5D artist. A great mixture of 2D and 3D. At Kingston University I learnt everything about these two worlds and today I can confidently work with them in any visual effects situation."
