There are always interesting activities taking place at Kingston and exciting opportunities to take advantage of. Here are some examples of what you could be involved with if you study this course.
Creative Writing Readings
There is a programme of visiting writers who give talks and readings. Our annual series of readings by poets and novelists from England and America, have featured: Beryl Bainbridge, Will Self, Trevelyan Evans, Lavinia Greenlaw, Carol Ann Duffy and Denise Riley.
Writers in Residence and visiting speakers
The course draws upon the talents, experience and expertise of published, practising - and often award-winning - Writers in Residence. You will be involved in masterclasses given by celebrated authors such as Paul Bailey and Maggie Gee. You will have the opportunity of working closely with emerging and newly published writers.
Kingston Readers' Festival
The annual Kingston Readers' Festival, supported by the University, brings acclaimed writers to the Borough to read and discuss their work in a wide range of events dedicated to the pleasure of reading. Writers from the 2005 event include: Alexander McCall Smith, Libby Purves, David Starkey, Julian Fellowes and the Festival's Patron and Jacqueline Wilson.
Degree Show
At the annual end-of-year degree show, selected students give a reading of their work to an appreciative audience of students and staff, followed by a celebratory social.
