Drama BA(Hons): Course features

What this course offers you

Jackie Smart, senior lecturer, talks about the Drama BA(Hons) course and the benefits of studying at degree level.

  • At Kingston we believe in combining theory and practice. Our understanding of drama as a practical subject extends through our teaching and assessments methods. Our teaching includes practical workshops as well as lectures and seminars, for example. Your assessments will include essays, but also presentations, performances and performance essays.
  • Our programme of student productions offers opportunities to create and perform in plays both at the University and further afield. Read more in the Student productions section.
  • Our team of tutors have a wealth of professional experience in both drama and education. For example, Winsome Pinnock, one of the UK's leading black playwrights, now teaches at Kingston. Colin Chambers, the literary manager of the Royal Shakespeare Company for many years, is another member of the team. Read more in the Who teaches this course? section.
  • Our base in the Reg Bailey building includes two equipped performance spaces (the Reg Bailey and the Studio) as well as teaching and rehearsal room. We also have close links to Kingston's exciting new theatre, the Rose Theatre. Read more in the Facilities section.
  • Kingston is only 25 minutes from central London, the UK's cultural hub, meaning you have easy access to West End theatres and the South Bank.
  • Language tuition and the opportunity to go on an international exchange are available.
