Drama BA(Hons): Links with business and industry
How we work with industry partners
Our lecturers have practical and professional experience in a range of contexts. This means that teaching is informed by the latest developments on the 'theatre scene' and you will have access to practical help and career advice from people with insider knowledge.
We also invite guest speakers and visiting companies to work with the students. Past guest practitioners have included: Peter Hall, Jude Kelly, Marcello Magni; playwrights Stephen Jeffreys, Steve Waters, Laura Wade, Dan Rebellato; Royal Court literary manager Graham Whybrow; and companies such as Frantic Assembly, Third Angel, the David Glass Ensemble, Told by an Idiot, Apocryphal Theatre.
Students are offered opportunities to gain professional experience in the local community, both through modules and the extra-curricular programme. For example:
- In Devising in the Community (second year module) students are linked with local community groups for whom they create programmes of activities and projects.
- In Special Study: Carnival (third year module) students created and performed at the Kingston May Day.
- This year students performed the winning entries to the Kingston Readers' Festival Short Plays competition at Borders Bookshop, Kingston.
