Drama BA(Hons): Student productions

Our students in action

Kudos (Kingston University Drama On Stage)

Our student company has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for five years running. In 2004, the production was Poor Malice, a contemporary adaptation of Macbeth written and directed by lecturer Jackie Smart. In 2005 students performed a version of Maurice Maeterlinck's The Intruder, developed from their final year project in the Production Project module.

In 2006 students worked with Marcia Carr, director of Impetuous Kinship, to devise Corpus Variorum: or the Emender of Stories. This year Kingston graduates Ben Clare and Matt Dye will be working with current students on Face in the Crowd - a show that was nominated for The Stage Award for Best Ensemble.

Kudos has also performed at the recently-created Rose Theatre of Kingston with The Ragged Child (written and directed by Frank Whately).

Theatre workshop

A wide variety of extra-curricular student productions are also staged at the Reg Bailey throughout the year. Our students produce and create these production themselves (with guidance from staff) and are a great opportunity to gain practical experience.

Past productions have included Othello, After Miss Julie and The Lord of the Flies, as well as a number of original pieces written by the students themselves.

Drama students also run a regular comedy night and perform at a Christmas cabaret.
