What this course offers you

This course allows you to develop the depth and breadth of your knowledge of economics - its theory and applications.
It enables you to specialise in pure economics, giving a thorough grounding in the core topics of economics and associated analytical skills. This provides you with a strong foundation for a career as an economist or for postgraduate study.
The course will enhance your understanding of the real world by developing appropriate theories. You'll explore why people make the decisions that they do and what the consequences of those decisions are.
You will investigate the economic role of institutions, such as markets, productive enterprises, households and government. You'll also use quantitative methods to increase the precision of logical analysis.

The School of Economics has scored high marks for teaching in official inspections carried out by the Government's Quality Assurance Agency.
Work is assessed through both examination and coursework, depending on the module.
