Engineering HND with pathways in Aerospace, Automotive or Mechanical Engineering : After you graduate
Where this course will take you
Completion of the HND with seven merits in appropriate subjects may enable you to transfer to Year 2 of the BEng(Hons) degrees in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at Kingston University. This enables you to complete a chartered engineer status course in four years and is worth considering as an insurance or clearing option. Many past students who have not done as well as expected in A-levels or equivalent qualifications have taken this route with great success.
Alternatively, once you have completed the HND you could transfer to Year 3 of the non-honours route of the relevant Engineering BSc degree at Kingston University, which on completion can be topped-up to an honours classification.
If you decide not to transfer to a degree course, the HND course provides a firm basis for moving straight into the engineering industry. It is designed to provide high-grade technical engineers who can demonstrate a good mix of academic, practical and management/supervisory skills. Former students are now working in roles such as production engineer for a brewing company, test engineer for a racing car company, and service engineer for an aircraft maintenance company.
