English and History BA(Hons): Course features

What this course offers you

  • You'll be introduced to the methodology, concepts and language of history and English Literature, covering texts, themes and subjects across a wide chronological and geographic range.
  • You'll benefit from history and English Literature's collaborative activity, community engagement and commitment to diversity and employability.
  • Our location is advantageous for this course: Kingston is rich in historic and literature attributes, with London only a short distance away. Did you know, for example, that the Clattern Bridge on the High Street, which dates back to the 13th century, is the oldest surviving bridge in London and one of the oldest bridges in England?
  • You'll learn how to think critically and learn independently, as well as gain a wide understanding of the contemporary world.
  • You'll be encouraged to work independently and in groups, both of which will foster effective learning.

Placements

In your final year, you can opt to take work and work-related placements within and outside the university, allowing you to experience history and literature at work.
