Film Studies BA(Hons): World cinemas
Cinema facades around Europe and the USA
This space is an online gallery for Film Studies at Kingston. It will be used to display images from student films and staff research projects. Our first display is a series of cinema facades from around Europe and the USA, representing two of the key strands in the Film Studies degree at Kingston.
Hollywood (seen here in the form of Mann's Chinese Theatre, Los Angeles) continues to dominate global film production, but around Continental and Eastern Europe, cinemas can provide a focal point for community, a means of exhibiting alternatives to the dominant mode, and exceptional examples of architecture. These photographs were taken by members of the Film Studies teaching team.
