Subject:

  • A-level: Economics not mandatory – students without A-level Economics follow a different programme of study.* General Studies accepted when one of three A-levels or equivalent.
  • Key Skills: points not accepted in tariff.
  • Plus GCSE: Mathematics and English grade A–C (or equivalent) required. Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number at Level 3 may be used to compensate for poor GCSE performance.

Other entry routes

  • We will consider a range of alternative qualifications or experience that are equivalent to the typical offer. Applications from international students with equivalent qualifications are welcome. Please contact us for details.

International students

All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirements. For this course it is Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall, with special conditions in all elements. Please make sure you read our full guidance about English language requirements, which includes details of other qualifications we'll consider.

Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements may be eligible to join our pre-sessional English language course.

Applicants from one of the recognised Majority English Speaking Countries (MESCs) do not need to meet these requirements.

*Different programmes of study

Students without an Economics A-level will take Introduction to Economics in Semester 1 and Microeconomics 1 in Semester 2. Students with an Economics A-level will take Microeconomics 1 in Semester 1 and optional UK Government and Politics in Semester 2. All other modules are the same.
