Fine Art and Art History BA(Hons): Links with business and industry
Professional skills and experience
Staff
Members of staff are practising artists, so:
- their teaching includes up-to-date professional experience;
- they can offer assistance with professional placements and work experience; and
- they can help you balance creating inspiring, challenging work with meeting commercial needs.
Professional experience
We aim to give you real experience of professional working life so you are prepared for the highly-competitive, fast-changing art world. We help you develop self-management and professional practice skills. You also have the chance to:
- work collaboratively;
- contribute to funded public art projects; and
- take part in competitions.
We have also worked on commissions from clients such as:
- BP Amoco;
- Johnson Controls;
- Lever Brothers;
- Merrill Lynch; and
- Sapcote Developments.
For example, a Kingston student won a competition run by the National Physical Laboratory a site-specific relief mural for the entrance lobby of its new headquarters.
Exhibitions
You will have the chance to exhibit your work at our on-site gallery, as well as other London locations. You will also contribute to Kingston's Art Loan scheme, which shows your work publicly alongside work by staff and established artists in the Kingston University Collection.
