About this course
Why choose this course?
This course is an ideal choice if you are interested in the history of the modern world and the problems facing society today. You will explore the histories of a range of countries and study many different types of history, including social, cultural and political history and the history of international relations.
You can also choose to study History as a joint honours degree alongside another subject. See the course combinations section for more information.
What will you study?
You can explore a wide range of subjects in British, European, American and international history, such as the Holocaust, women's history, the early Modern period, and the history of race, slavery and identity. You will write a dissertation on a topic of your choice, working with a historian as your supervisor. You will also become familiar with debates over the role of history in today's world, and will develop the research skills of the historian.
