"The experience that I had at Kingston University is one that has made me the person I am today. I studied Human Resource Management BA(Hons) at Kingston for a period of five years. I took a break from studying and decided to do some charity work in India and also realised that my degree alone will not be enough for me to secure a position in the future, thus decided to gain some HR experience by temping.

"I think what made me really fall in love with Kingston as a whole, is the atmosphere that Kingston Hill is set in. With its leafy surrounding and silent areas, I took great advantage of working outside when the weather was nice. It was a home away from home and I sought comfort in the fact that I was safe away from the working world, but could always see the end goal. The course was everything that I expected, a course that gave me the fundamental understanding of HR and a solid foundation to build on. I completed a one-year work placement and I recommend undergrads to do one.

"The teaching in my final year was exemplary. I found myself excited about my lessons and found that I actually did the background reading for classes as I wanted to learn more and more. The seminars were informative. The element of working in a team for most work was always inspiring. I also enjoyed the twilight sessions that were put on by my faculty. We had the opportunity meet some 'big names' in the business world, who gave us an insight into what can be achieved through hard work, dedication and passion.

"The LRC also became like a second home for me. The staff are always there to help you, even if you have a really basic question. There is always someone to read your work in the 'pod' sessions on the ground floor. I think this was an excellent idea. It was highly beneficial and inspiring, to have someone from a entirely different faculty read your work, and be able to help you.

"Last, but by no means least, the staff. From Maggie Boyden in the placement office who only wants students to succeed and do their best to my course director, Sanjiv who instils strong work ethic in to you. My university life was very different to most others, however it has made me the person I am today.

"I currently work for Avantia Insurance Group – heading up the entire HR function in the rapidly growing company based in Kingston. I graduated with a 2:1

"A note to all students – whenever you feel that you want to give up and it's just too hard and the light seems too dim – remember to keep that faith, keep going and above all always, always do your best – no one can ask for anything more."
