About this course
Why choose this course?
This course is ideal if you are interested in the advertising and marketing communications element of the marketing mix. You will explore specialist marketing communications topics together with general business and management studies. A practical, hands-on approach enables you to appreciate the thinking behind planning and implementing effective marketing communications campaigns, from both client-side and agency-side perspectives.
The optional placement year will give you the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you have gained, as well as to develop new career skills that will be invaluable once you graduate. You could also use the year to undertake an overseas study exchange.
What will you study?
You will study the marketing concept in modern business and non-profit organisations before exploring the broader marketing mix, including market research techniques and how to apply marketing concepts to real situations. The core business and management modules examine a wide range of business activities and will develop your management skills.
In the final year, the core modules will hone your strategic thinking and decision making in advertising, marketing management and business management. An option module enables you to further develop your specialism in marketing communications.
All our business courses have a shared first year so you can easily transfer to the second year of a different course if your interests change.
Where will you study?
Years 1 and 2 are taught at our partner institution, Richmond upon Thames College, as well as at Kingston University. Year 3 must be taken at the University.
