Marketing Management BA(Hons): What our students say
Student profiles
Don't just take our word for it – here's what some of our current and recent students say about what it's like to study at Kingston.

Name: Nga Ting Lai (Mavis)
Age: 21
Course: Marketing Management BA(Hons)
Level: In third year
Route to University: A-levels and AVCE business double award

"Marketing needs creative ideas and market sensitivity which makes it a really interesting subject. I spent my first year at another university but I didn't like the environment. So I switched to Kingston because friends already studying here recommended it.
"One of the things I've enjoyed about this course is that, as well as marketing, I study modules relating to other areas of business. This means that I've gained a good general knowledge of the industry.
"For many assignments you form a study group with others. This is great because you don't feel like you're working alone. I've also particularly enjoyed experiencing real working situations. I have found the lecturers are always willing to help and the workshops that go with the lectures are useful because you can discuss the subject in a small group with the lecturer.
"One thing I've struggled with is the presentations because I'm not too confident. But as lots of modules require presentations, the course has really developed my communication skills. I am still nervous when I present, but I've learned not to be afraid to stand up and talk to the class!"

Name: Sophie Dollin
Age: 19
Course: Marketing Management BA(Hons)
Level: Completed first year
Route to University: A-levels
Accommodation: Halls of residence
"I took Business Studies at A-level and really enjoyed the marketing module. So when I saw that Kingston offered a Marketing Management degree and the modules it included were really interesting, I felt it would be the ideal course for me.
"Once I arrived I was surprised to discover that one of the modules I enjoyed most was accountancy. It's really well structured and I found it challenging but not too difficult. I also enjoyed a module which involved designing a product. I liked taking an idea from its early stages and developing it.
"The group projects can be difficult if you are in a team with people who work in a different way from you. But you learn to accept how other people are and deal with them. The University itself is in a nice area and I've found the staff really friendly.
"My aim now is to get a first in my degree and then maybe go into sports' marketing and advertising."
