About this course
Why choose this course?
This course enables you to train as a paramedic, providing immediate assistance to patients in the emergency, pre-hospital care environment. The degree combines learning in the workplace with academic study and is delivered by Kingston University and St George's, University of London in conjunction with NHS Ambulance Trusts.
What will you study?
This course has a strong clinical focus throughout. Year 1 is intended to provide a foundation in the underpinning knowledge and skills required by paramedics, and involves a mixture of theory teaching, practical skills teaching and placements on NHS ambulances. Year 2 mirrors the structure of the first year but has a strong emphasis on developing the professional competencies required for independent paramedic practice. The second year will also involve a range of both hospital- and ambulance-based placements.
