"I chose to study Pharmaceutical Science as an alternative to Pharmacy. I had heard good things about Kingston University from friends and preferred the course structure to others I had seen. The fact that the town is in a beautiful location along the Thames was an extra bonus.
"One of the most interesting aspects of the course is the many practicals, which are enjoyable and fascinating. Classes such as Organic Chemistry and lab classes such as Practical Skills in Pharmaceutical Science are very informative and you really learn a lot from them.
"The teaching is of a very good standard – most lecturers show a passion for their subject and really know what they are talking about. I find that workshop classes are a great help because you can talk one-on-one with the lecturer about how to solve any problems. If I have struggled with anything on my course it's easy to ask for help – lecturers are always available in their office or via email and always happy to help.
"I am also a peer assisted learner (PAL). This is a scheme that helps students in the first year who are struggling. I assist them with any aspects of chemistry they do not understand. This can be through email or meeting up.
"After I graduate, my long-term ambition is to obtain a job in the pharmaceutical industry and hopefully go into the research and development of new drugs. The course has made me even more fascinated by this area."
