Photography BA(Hons): Course features

What this course offers you

  • This course is ideal if you want to explore a broad range of approaches to photography with the freedom to follow your own ideas and interests.
  • It will particularly suit you if you are interested in the potential that a background in creative photography offers. You will explore ideas and develop skills applicable to contexts such as advertising, architecture, documentary, fashion, contemporary art, interiors, publishing and travel.
  • You will have the opportunity to consolidate your awareness of contemporary photography and gain professional feedback on your practice through a programme of lectures and tutorials delivered by visiting photographers, artists, publishers and curators.

Visiting lecturers have included Steven Pippin, Matt Collishaw, Rut Blees Luxembourg, Sophie Rickett, Jeremy Millar, Peter Fraser, Nigel Shafran, Melanie Manchot, Laura Noble, Esther Teichmann, Jenny Matthews, Diane Smyth, Helene Binet, Jane and Louise Wilson, Diego Ferrari, David Spero, Veronique Chance, Laura Pannack, Louise Clemens, Clare Grafik, Natasha Caruana, Bruno Ceschel, Miranda Gavin and Gregor Muir.

Industry and professional links

Through both the visiting lecture programme and course activities we have links with organisations such as National Archives at Kew, the Barbican, the National Theatre, the Photographers Gallery, British Journal of Photography, ICA, the Association of Photographers (AOP), Photofusion, It's Nice That, Jocks and Nerds, Self Publish Be Happy, Strawberry Hill House, Kingston Hospital, Camden Arts Centre and Metro Imaging (student ambassador programme).

All our regular staff members are practicing professionals in photography, regularly exhibiting and publishing their work to national and international acclaim. They include Henry Bond, Judy Price, Vince Wade, Lauren Winsor, Zoe Childerley, Charlie Murphy, Diego Ferrari and Ingrid Pollard.
