Primary Teaching leading to Qualified Teacher Status BA(Hons): Entry requirements

Entry requirements for 2018

  • 96 UCAS points to include two A-levels (A*–C) in subjects relevant to national curriculum;
    OR accredited Access course with passes in three level-3 modules relevant to national curriculum;
    OR BTEC National Diploma relevant to the national curriculum equivalent to 96 UCAS points.
    CACHE courses relevant to the national curriculum, with 96 UCAS points or above, will be considered.
  • Five GCSEs (A*–C or comparable numeric scores from 2017), including English, Maths, Science and two other subjects. Equivalency tests will be considered from recognised institutions, however, you will need to show on your application that you will obtain these qualifications prior to the start of the course.
  • Suitable experience of working within a primary school.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Professional Skills tests in literacy and numeracy.
  • Satisfactory DBS check and Occupational Health Clearance (these will be conducted following acceptance of any potential offer given).

English language requirements

All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirement, which is Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no element below 5.5 or 6.0 in each element if using it as your GCSE English language qualification for teacher training. Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements could be eligible to join our pre-sessional English language course.

Applicants from recognised majority English speaking countries (MESCs) do not need to meet these requirements.
