Psychology BSc(Hons): Entry requirements

Typical offer

• Single honours: 260 points (BCC).
• Joint honours: 240–360 points (BCD), depending on combination.
• Units: to include three A-levels or equivalent.
• Subjects: A-level Psychology not required but must be passed at grade C if taken. General Studies not accepted.
• Plus GCSE: Mathematics and English Language (grade A–C required).

Further requirements for specific combinations

• Business: 280 points from at least three A-levels, with at least 180 points from two A-levels or equivalent; 5 GCSE subjects including (grade A–C required).
• Creative Writing: 60 points at A-level in English Language or a related subject.
• Criminology: GCSE Science (grade A–C required).
• Drama: refer to Drama entry requirements.
• English Language and Communication: BCD, 80 points at A-level in English Language or a related subject.
• French: BCD, 80 points at A-level in French or 40 points at AS-level or GCSE French grade A–B.
• Journalism: refer to Journalism entry requirements.
• Media and Cultural Studies: BCD, students taking Media Studies A-level must achieve grade C or above.
• Spanish: BCD, 80 points at A-level in Spanish or 40 points at AS-level or GCSE Spanish grade A–B.

Other entry routes 

We will consider a range of alternative qualifications or experience that are equivalent to the typical offer. Applications from international students with equivalent qualifications are welcome. Please contact us for details.

All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirements. For this course it is Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall, with special conditions in all elements. Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements may be eligible to join our pre-sessional English language course.

Applicants from one of the recognised Majority English Speaking Countries (MESCs) do not need to meet these requirements.
