Publishing BA(Hons): Course features

What this course offers you

  • You can study Publishing either on its own as a single honours or combined with another subject such as Creative Writing or English.
  • Your lecturers are experienced professional publishers who bring up-to-the-minute industry knowledge to their teaching. They ensure you get all the help you need to reach your full potential.
  • You hear from top industry professionals every week in our masterclass series. Our industry contacts also contribute to modules and provide you with lots of opportunities to network.
  • You will develop practical skills like design, layout, video editing, copy editing, data analysis, using a CMS – and develop the innovation and creativity that will get you a job in publishing or the wider creative and communications industries.
  • You will have the opportunity to work on live publishing projects with the Kingston University Press
  • You can tailor your course to your own interests, ambitions and culture and make products of your own choosing.
  • Our award-winning placement scheme and extensive network of placement providers will help you get the experience you need to get a job.
  • You will have access to dedicated resources to support your learning: up-to-the-minute digital computer labs with industry-standard software, publishing archives and a comprehensive library. You'll also be able to borrow the latest recording, filming and photography equipment.
  • You will be part of Kingston Writing School, a lively community of outstanding publishers, writers and journalists, and have the opportunity connect to the local community through events like the Kingston Connections festival.
  • You will be in an exciting leafy location conveniently placed for the hub of the global publishing industry in London.
  • You can choose to study abroad for either a semester or a whole year, at Kingston's partner universities in the United States, Australia and Canada; or in Europe through the Erasmus scheme.
