Entry requirements for 2017

Typical offer

  • Points: 112 (BBC at A-level)
  • Units: to include at least two A-levels or equivalent
  • General Studies A-level/AS-level not accepted
  • Key Skills/Functional Skills not accepted in tariff point requirements

And

  • GCSE: five subjects grades A–C including Mathematics and English Language (or comparable numeric score under the newly reformed GCSE gradings)
  • Functional Skills/Key Skills Application of Numbers and Communication not accepted in place of GCSE Mathematics and English Language

Other entry routes

We will consider a range of alternative qualifications that are equivalent to the typical offer:

Qualification Requirement
BTEC National Diploma DMM (Distinction, Merit, Merit) plus five GCSE grade A–C including Mathematics and English Language
Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma 112 UCAS tariff points to include at least two A-levels or equivalent plus five GCSE subjects grade A–C including Mathematics and English Language (or comparable numeric scores under the newly reformed GCSE gradings)
European Baccalaureate 70% overall with 60% in Mathematics and 75% in English Language (both written and oral)
International Baccalaureate 25 IB points overall including 4 IB pts in Mathematics at Standard Level; 4 IB pts in English Language at Higher Level and 5 IB pts in two additional subjects at Higher Level
Scottish Highers 2Bs and 3Cs at Higher Level including Mathematics and English Language
Irish Highers 3B3s and 2 C1s at Higher Level including Mathematics and English Language
Access to Higher Education Diploma
Mature applicants (21 years and older) will need to pass a QAA-approved Access to Higher Education Diploma with 60 credits, minimum 45 credits at Level 3 including 21 at merit + GCSE English Language grade C + GCSE Maths grade C (or comparable numeric score under the newly reformed GCSE grading). Applicants under 21 years will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Unfortunately it is not possible to accept direct applications to join the second, third or fourth years of our business programmes.

If you don't meet the above entry requirements our International Foundation Year can prepare you for entry progression onto this degree course.

English language requirements

All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirements. For this course it is Academic IELTS of 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5. Please make sure you read our full guidance about English language requirements, which includes details of other qualifications we'll consider.

Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements may be eligible to join our pre-sessional English language course.

Applicants from one of the recognised Majority English Speaking Countries (MESCs) do not need to meet these requirements.
