"I had a strong interest in pursuing a degree that was related to computing, but focused on networking so I decided to study Internet Computing* at Kingston. As the course is only available as a joint option I chose to combine it with Media Technology because this also seemed very interesting – it provided an insight into producing work based on my creativity so I felt it would offer me more employment opportunities.
"When I initially looked for an internet computing course I was very surprised to find that hardly any universities offered such a degree. Kingston University was one of the few that did and I feel this shows that it is up-to-date and meets the technological changes in today's business and information world.
"Kingston is also a fantastic location with beautiful scenery and central London accessible in just 25 minutes on the train. There's a lot to do in the town and it is a safe and friendly place.
"The main thing I have enjoyed about my course is the sense of responsibility. Working for yourself and ensuring that you meet deadlines on time is very rewarding. I have also enjoyed spending time with my classmates - especially doing group work - as this produces a positive atmosphere, helping me and others achieve high standards.
"Another thing I like is that each class is about something different - the course is fast-moving, but taught clearly so you're never lost, this adds to the enthusiasm and interest in the modules.
"The teaching at Kingston University is very good The lecturers are always very helpful and most lectures are presented on a computer projected screen displaying a PowerPoint presentation - this makes it clearer for everyone to see the information. The University also uses an online learning system known as Blackboard. Lecture notes are placed here and the system can even be accessed from home - it's a valuable tool for your studies.
"When I decided to study Internet Computing* I was adamant that I wanted a career in internet systems. Since studying Media Technology I have also developed an avid interest in working with multimedia. By taking the Internet Computing* with Media Technology course I have made even more opportunities available to me."
