  • Other information: I came to Kingston straight from school. I am a member of the Kingston Football club.

I chose Kingston because... I wanted to be in and around London. It was an excellent opportunity to get away from Norwich, a much quieter area, so I could learn about lifde skills and meet new people of all nationalities and cultures. Another factor why I chose Kingston was that the Sport Science was 5th in the UK at the time.

I have got to where I am now... I think it seemed to just happen - although I did have a huge obstacle when I was about 14. I was going in the wrong direction and my mates certainly didn't help me. Luckily I pulled my socks up and got through my GCSE's. Looking back at it now, I'm so glad I worked hard. I discovered a like for learning about sport at the age of 15 and just progressed with GCSE and then A-level's in the related subjects. My parents have always been such a great support to me and were encouraging me to work hard. My PE teacher was also a big inspiration to me, as well as some support staff at the school, and being surrounded by friends who actually wanted to work at sixth form was incredibly helpful.

My plans for the future are... to be a PE teacher, and also possibly a personal trainer - hopefully own a business of gyms. I also want to learn some new instruments and travel more places in the world.

More about me

Describe a typical day at uni

I only have one 9am start, so I would usually get up around 10, have a shower and eat. Unfortunately as it is 3rd year I have to get myself to the library in the daytime if I do not have lectures. I would stay until late afternoon, go to the gym, then go back home to have dinner, then either do work, go out or relax.

Who is your hero?

Hmmm a few, my P.E. teacher Mr Goodwin was inspirational to me for my future career.  Mum and dad have always been extremely supportive to me and backing up everything I do.

What is your top tip for university?

Just be yourself and enjoy yourself. Would be nice to meet loads of different people in Freshers' week, but if you don't, there's plenty of time to get to know other people later. This will help you settle in and make your experience at uni more enjoyable. Oh and definitely... WORK HARD AND PLAY HARD.

My quotes

"I didn't have to attend interviews; I just had to patiently wait. Don't fret when your mates get offers, yours will come soon!"

"If you are not living at home, definitely apply for accommodation early, whether it is halls of residence or private accommodation. Personally, halls of residence are an excellent student experience where you live with other students in the same boat as you (mostly first time living away from home away from parents)! You meet loads of different people and get up to exciting things!"

"Think about cost of living! And how far you wanna get away from your parents!"
