Unconditional Offer Scheme FAQ's

  • Why are Kingston University making unconditional offers to applicants?
  • At Kingston, we are looking for the brightest students to join our community. We believe that making unconditional offers by taking into consideration past academic achievement and predicted A Level or BTEC qualifications is one way to select students.

We also hope this demonstrates the confidence we have in outstanding applicants that they have the motivation, dedication and aptitude to succeed as an undergraduate student at Kingston University.

  • How do you select applications to receive unconditional offers?
  • We base our selection on a careful review of applicant's undergraduate application and where we feel applicants have demonstrated the academic achievement and potential that we would welcome at Kingston University.

The exact criteria for an unconditional offer differs from course to course however, they will all include a minimum GCSE grade level as well as a minimum A Level or equivalent prediction threshold, plus an outstanding personal statement and excellent reference.

  • What subjects are not included in the scheme?
  • The following courses in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing are exempt:

    • All degrees aligned to Nutrition
    • All degrees aligned to Pharmacy
    • Pharmaceutical & Chemical Sciences (FdSc)
    • Aircraft Engineering (BSc and MEng/BEng)

The following course in Kingston School of Art is exempt:

    • Fashion

All courses aligned to Health Care, Social Work and Education are also exempt.

  • Is this scheme open to overseas students?
  • Unfortunately not. Due to UKVI regulations we are unable to make an unconditional offer to students who require a visa to study in the UK.

  • What if the applicant doesn't get the grades they were predicted?
  • Whilst we will stand by an unconditional offer that is made, irrespective of the applicant's results, we hope that the drive and ambition that they have already demonstrated will lead them to continue to work hard to obtain the highest grades possible. The qualifications that applicants are taking now are not just a foundation to excelling at university but will also stand them in good stead in their post-university working life.

  • Do applicants need GCSE's to be considered?
  • Yes, applicants will usually have GCSE qualifications or equivalent year 11 results as this is evidence of past academic achievement.

  • Why does the applicant have to select Kington University as their firm choice to receive the unconditional offer?
  • To participate in the scheme all applicants need to do is firmly accept our offer on UCAS track.

  • Are applicants able to defer their unconditional offer?
  • No. The unconditional offer is only available for 2018 entry.

  • Does the unconditional offer scheme apply to applicants who make Kingston University their insurance choice?
