This module provides a critical overview of recent British cinema. It explores:

• how British cinema has interpreted, reflected and contributed to social change in British society between 1960 and 1990; and
• the critical interaction of British and foreign cinemas during this period.

You will both look at case studies of individual directors and undertake more general study of:

• studio policies;
• representative films;
• genres and filmmaking movements; and
• critical and audience reception.
