This module discusses the architecture and design of the Victorian and Edwardian periods in Europe and North America. You will consider:

• the broader social and political context;
• historiographical developments within the study of the period;
• the changing emphasis from a production-oriented history of the period to a more contextualised, consumption-focused approach; and
• the emergence of mass society.
