How we will help

Meet an advisor in the Student Life CentreWe know that juggling your finances can be a difficult part of being a student so we'll do all we can do to help you out.

Before you arrive at Kingston, you can access financial information on our Getting Ready site – parents can also access our special parents' site.

Plus we offer confidential one-to-one advice and information on budgeting and money management, dealing with problems with Student Finance England and dealing with debts.

You pay your accommodation fees in instalments by direct debit to help you budget. And if you do run into problems and end up owing us any money, we'll make sure we get in touch with you as soon as possible to help you get it sorted.

What should I do if I have financial difficulties?

If you have any money problems while you're at Kingston University, we'll do everything we can to help and support you.

  • Face the situation: owing money to anyone can be very stressful and affect on your studies so don't ignore it.
  • Seek advice: the first thing to do is to talk to one of our money advisers about your problems. They'll be able to give you advice and help you contact anyone you owe money to. You might also like to visit the National Debtline website.
  • Let people know: if you have a problem re-paying money, let your lenders know as soon as possible. The earlier they know, the more sympathetic they're likely to be.
  • Reach a compromise: offer your lenders a rate of payment that you can realistically afford. They'll often accept a reduced monthly repayment rather than take you to court, which would cost them money.

Remember that you can contact the Student Life Centre for help and advice on 020 8417 7312.
