Scholarships 2013/14
For new entrants in 2013, Kingston University is offering more than 2,000 scholarships and bursaries with a total value of more than £3million. The following scholarships are on offer:
- 496 National Scholarship Programme scholarships, with the value of £3,000 each in the first year of your course.
- 1,500 Kingston Scholarship Scheme scholarships, with the value of £1,000 in the first year of your course.
- An unlimited number of care leaver bursaries, with the value of £1,500 in the first year of your course. In 2012, 32 care leaver bursaries were allocated.

How to apply
You will need your username (K number) and password to log in to the online portal (OSIS) where applications can be made.
- Log in to OSIS using your username and password
- Click on 'Your Application' on the left-hand side
- Click on 'Your Scholarship Application'
- Complete the scholarship application form

National Scholarship Programme
496 scholarships available.
- The National Scholarship is £3,000 for the first year of your course.
- It is available to students from the UK and European Union who are eligible for student finance from the UK Government.
- UK students can choose to have £1,000 paid to them, or as a discount on university accommodation or as a fee waiver. The remaining £2,000 is paid as a fee waiver. EU students will receive the whole scholarship as a fee waiver.
- Scholarships will be awarded in second and third year of study dependent on successful progression through your course and your grades.
Kingston Scholarship Scheme
1,500 scholarships available.
- The Kingston Scholarship is £1,000 for the first year of your course.
- It is available to students from the UK and European Union who are eligible for student finance from the UK Government.
- UK students can choose to have it paid to them, or as a discount on university accommodation or as a fee waiver. EU students will receive the whole scholarship as a fee waiver.
- Scholarships will be awarded in second and third year of study dependent on successful progression through your course and your grades.
You cannot receive both the National Scholarship and the Kingston Scholarship. If your application for a scholarship is successful we will tell you which scholarship you have been awarded.
Find out if you are eligible for a scholarship
You can apply for a scholarship if you meet the following criteria:
- you hold a firm offer to study at Kingston University, starting in September 2013;
- the fee charged for your course is £6,001 or more or you are studying an integrated Foundation Year in Science, Engineering and Computing;
- you are eligible to receive Student Finance (maintenance loan and grant and tuition fee loan for UK students; tuition fee loan for EU students);
- your household income as assessed by Student Finance England (or equivalent) is £25,000 or less for the National Scholarship; if your household income is less than £45,000 you can apply for a Kingston Scholarship;
- you have not studied at university level before; and
- neither of your parents holds a university-level qualification (by this we mean that neither parent holds a degree or HND) or you are a mature student (over 25 years old on 1 September 2013).

We will contact applicants who meet initial criteria by email to notify them that the application form is open.
Please note:
- We have a limited amount of money for both the National Scholarship and the Kingston Scholarship.
- Meeting the eligibility criteria does not give an entitlement to a scholarship.
- If you are awarded a scholarship from the National Scholarship Programme you will not also be eligible for the Kingston Scholarship Scheme. You may only receive one of these awards.
- Please note that you need to have selected Kingston University as firm in order to apply.
