Eadweard Muybridge and Main buildings

Students in a tutorialThe Eadweard Muybridge and Main buildings are at the centre of the Penrhyn Road campus. Teaching for arts, social sciences, radiography and science subjects takes place here so you'll find lots of lecture theatres and other teaching spaces.

The Eadweard Muybridge Building features state-of the art laboratories for everything from exercise physiology and biomechanics to chemical and pharmaceutical sciences. Our new £420,000 pharmacy practice lab allows pharmacy students to practice their people and diagnostic skills through role plays. Plus our ‘scene of crime house’ gives forensic science students the chance to put their skills to the test, from dusting for fingerprints to analysing samples.

Our dedicated radiography resources include a radiography lecture suite, two X-ray sets with processing facilities, and anatomical models. Radiography students also have access to our VERT (Virtual Environment for Radiotherapy Training) lab at the nearby Cooper House. Its virtual training equipment provides a safe, non-clinical way to explore radiotherapy.

Students in a seminarIn the Main Building our film and media labs provide specialist software, video and audio facilities. The journalism department has a dedicated newsroom, complete with industry standard publishing, video and photo editing equipment.

Our new psychology facilities include:

  • five specialised labs – for participant observation, physiological recording, eye-tracking, drug administration and neuropsychological testing;
  • six large generic laboratories for psychological testing or interviewing; and
  • a cluster of 25 PCs for psychology experiments.
