Head of the River Race
The STARTING Order 

 
 
The revisions to the Starting Order made in 2002 are explained in "Starting Order"
     which has a link on the Draw and Results page of www.horr.co.uk
There are further changes in 2007 which are explained in "Starting Order".

 

      The Race Rules, Marshalling Instructions and Notes for Guidance of
            Coxswains will be available shortly at www.horr.co.uk/RacInst.htm
     These documents are essential reading for all Competitors, Captains,
  and Coxswains, and will be posted to all crews as well as appearing here.

   There is a Lightweight category, shown in the Status column as Lwt.

    Lt1 is a Lightweight entry becoming S.1 if the crew does not satisfy the Lightweight requirement etc.

   Lwt becomes Elite if the crew does not satisfy the Lightweight requirement

OU denotes an Overseas Crew entered for the Bernard Churcher Trophy.

R denotes a Relocated crew - see "Starting Order" for details.

The Head of the River Race 2009
 

This year the Head received its second-highest entry ever . 70 entries were received from overseas , and these were reduced to the quota of 65 at a draw in January. One of the 65 later withdrew , leaving 356 places available for the 207 British clubs that have entered .

These clubs put in a total of 402 crews . Of these , 201 were entitled to automatic places from being in the top 280 in 2008 . A further 77 crews were guaranteed a place as their club’s first (or sole) crew . This leaves 124 crews , which will go into a draw for the remaining 78 places – that is , 46 crews will be unlucky . This is , of course , subject to checking of all entries, and timely receipt of all entrance fees.
