Professor Martyn Paul Waller

I joined Kingston University as a Lecturer in Biogeography in 1990 and taught undergraduates and postgraduates in various Ecology and Conservation modules until my retirement as a Professor in 2017.

My primary research interests are in the fields of Long-term Ecology, Archaeobotany and Quaternary Science. In particular, I have published extensively on various aspects of the Holocene vegetation history of southern England and West Africa. I have also worked on Holocene coastal change in the former region (notably in the East Anglian Fenland and the Romney Marsh area). These investigations have been pursued through grants from, amongst others, NERC, The Leverhulme Trust and English Heritage.

Since retirement, I have continued publishing in these areas, collaborating with researchers at Kingston University (e.g. Dr Kerry Brown) and other institutions.
