Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching): Dr Clarissa Wilks

Dr Clarissa Wilks is the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) at Kingston University.

About Dr Clarissa Wilks

Clarissa took up the role in January 2017.  She joined Kingston 25 years ago as a senior lecturer in modern languages and applied linguistics and went on to serve as Head of French, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and then University Dean of Learning and Teaching.

After a first degree in French and Spanish at the University of Oxford, Clarissa spent a period working in France and then completed her masters and doctorate in second language acquisition. Her research interests are in vocabulary networks and more recently in learning space design.

Clarissa is passionate about teaching and about working to help all our students become confident, creative and resilient graduates who flourish in their future studies and careers.

Responsibilities and portfolio areas

Clarissa is a member of the Senior Management Team and has responsibility for the delivery of our core mission in learning, teaching and student support. The areas she oversees include:
