Kingston Careers

Opportunity: Meet the alumni (Law). An informal round table session with law students. A chance to share an insight of working life in your legal field and valuable career advice.

  • When: Wednesday 26 Feb 2020, 1-2pm
  • Where: Penrhyn Road Campus
  • Experience required: At least two years legal experience since graduating. We will like to highlight a wide range of legal careers.

Kingston University's School Outreach programe

Kingston University's schools outreach programme reaches thousands of children every year. It aims to raise aspirations and inspire young people for further study and education. Alumni play a vital role in this journey and we are looking for recent graduates who can share their experiences of university life, and provide career advice to help to build soft and employability skills in Year 10 pupils (14-15 year olds).

Opportunity: Female alumni with a career in performing arts, STEM or business to talk about their experience and career to date.

Calling all Nursing Practitioners

The School of Nursing is seeking the help of nursing alumni to help interview candidates for the Pre-Registration Nursing programme. It will give early practitioners a chance to develop interview skills and the opportunity to inspire future nurses at Kingston.

Training and support will be provided on the day and each interview session will be AM or PM. Please email alumni@kingston.ac.uk to express your interest and we will put you in the touch with organisers.

Enterprise! Our Hackathon programme

Our HackCentre programme brings together students and academics from across disciplines to work together in ‘hackathons' (problem solving workshops) to solve defined challenges. Alumni can help judge and/or mentor students. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved! Please email [email protected] to express your interest.

Opportunity: Support MSc Engineering students as they work in teams to develop ideas to answer the United Nations Sustainabile Development Goal challenge - Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. We need alumni with relevant experience to help coach and mentor on the day.

  • When: Wednesday 19 February 2020, 2-5pm. You can attend for the whole session or part of it
  • Where: Roehampton Vale campus.

Offer a work placement to a Kingston Business School student

We are looking for employers to offer a 3 month work placements to an undergraduate students studying one of the following programmes:  BSc (Hons) Business Management, BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance, BSc (Hons) International Business and BSc (Hons) Marketing & Advertising.

Our students will be a significant asset to your organisation and we would love to have you on board for this exciting opportunity.

Offer a work placement to Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing Postgraduate student.

An MSc placement is an excellent recruitment opportunity for a wide range of companies and would be ideal for a specific work or research project or maternity cover vacancy. We have students available for placements from September 2020 for periods of between 10-12 months.

Enterprise! Nest

The Nest incubation space supports fledging student and graduate businesses as part of our Enterprise programme.

Opportunity: Come and listen to Nest members give an update on the status of their business (six minutes presentation, followed by a five minutes Q&A). You will have the chance to give feedback, support and advice and the opportunity to get more involved in mentoring the businesses.

Experience required: Alumni with successful (and unsuccessful!) entrepreneurial experience.

Consultancy in Practice

Opportunity: Students need your business project or problem to solve. This three-month module gives them real-life experience in working with and delivering for clients. Students could work on creating your new marketing strategy, researching business expansion, or designing and implementing staff engagement events. 

  • When: March to July 2020
  • Where: Kingston Hill and remotely
  • Experience required: You will need to have a real-life business project and be available as a client.

Business Readiness Programme

Our Business Readiness programme supports business students with the skills they need to find their dream job. There are a range of ways to get involved.

These sessions are for students studying undergraduate degrees in Business Management, Accounting & Finance, International Business and Marketing & Advertising.

Opportunity: We have a number of industry panels focusing on wide ranging business careers and wider industry themes. If you have experience in marketing, advertising, general business (including international business), accounting and finance, HR and real estate, share your experience and explore the themes that are important to your business. Please email Ellie Luker to express your interest for furture sessions.

Calling all Economics alumni

The Economics Department will be delivering a programme of employability support for students throughout the year. If you are interested in speaking and sharing your experiences since graduating, please do register your interest.

Calling all Pharmacy/Pharmacology/Pharmaceutical Science alumni

Kingston University Pharmacy Students Association are keen to work with alumni on career events and talks of interest. If you are interested in speaking and sharing your experiences since graduating, please do register your interest.
