Photography and video

Studio Photography

Before your ceremony starts the graduation photographers, Tempest, will be ready and waiting to take a picture of you in your hat and gown, certificate in hand (hopefully smiling and with your eyes open).

There's no need to book or pay in advance, just turn up around two hours before your ceremony to ensure you have enough time to get the photographs you want. You can view packs and prices on Tempest's website - choose Kingston University from the drop-down menu and select the date and time of your ceremony. Having your photo taken is free so we recommend you take advantage of the opportunity as you can choose the images and purchase prints at a later date.

There are two services available:

  • The Classic Service – which includes having your photograph taken against a standard backdrop. You can ask for both individual and group photographs.
  • Studio B3 – which is a bespoke service offering graduates and their guests more studio time and the choice of black and white or colour photographs. Again you can ask for individual and group photographs.

Pictures of your presentation

Your picture will also be taken as you shake the host's hand on stage at the Rose Theatre. You can see it and buy it at the ceremony reception.

And don't worry if you don't have time to get it then. A few weeks after your ceremony, pictures of the presentation will be posted on Tempest's website.

For FAQs about photography, please visit the Tempest website or contact Tempest on +44 (0)1736 752411.

Celebrate your magic moment with StageClip

memorabiliaYour special moment on stage will be captured by StageClip. Your StageClip features screen titles showing your name, graduation date and degree subject. It also captures the moment you cross the stage and receive your award. Your StageClip is designed for download to your mobile device and can be easily shared on your social networks. You will be emailed after your ceremony has taken place to notify you when your clip is available on the StageClip website. You'll be asked to complete a short survey before it can be downloaded. Don't forget to tag your StageClip using the official graduation hashtag! #MadeInKingston

Don't miss the opportunity to have your official photograph taken

If you did not get a chance to attend your graduation, we are able to offer you the opportunity to have a photo in an official Kingston University gown, with our professional photographers on campus.

If this is an opportunity you are interested in, please let us know so we can inform you of future photography session dates.

Please note, you will not be able to take personal photos in the gowns on this occasion and the gowns will not be able to be taken out of the studio.

You are more than welcome to bring family members to have official photography with you.

Other photography companies

It has come to our attention that there are other photography companies operating in the Kingston area offering graduation photography. Please note that these companies are not supported by the University, so there is no guarantee of quality and if you choose to use a company other than our official graduation photographers, Tempest, it is at your own risk.

Photography and filming on the day

Ceremony audiences should note that ceremonies will be filmed, and an official video clip and photograph of each graduate crossing the stage is produced. University staff and official photographers may be roaming around during your graduation day taking photographs and video clips for the University's social media channels, website and printed materials.
