Find your seat

When should I go to my seat in the auditorium?

Listen out for an announcement approx. 30 minutes before the ceremony starts.

Your seat number is on your graduate name card. Seating is arranged in alphabetical order by course, so you will be sitting with your classmates.

Please sit in the seat you have been allocated.

There are no cloakroom facilities so please avoid bringing large bags/luggage where possible and we recommend leaving your belongings with your guests before you enter the auditorium.

During the ceremony

Receive your presentation on stage

The award ceremony

The ceremony will last around 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on the number of graduates.

There will be a few speeches before you receive your presentation on stage. The graduation programme will have a brief running order of the ceremony including who will be speaking.

How will I have my presentation?

  1. A member of staff will collect your from your seat.
  2. Make sure you take your name card with you.
  3. When you are told to enter the stage, walk along the red carpet.
  4. Give your name card to the person standing at the lectern. Wait for them to read your name.
  5. When your name is read out, continue to the centre of the stage to meet with the ceremony host.
  6. Continue to walk along the red carpet until you are at the other end of the room. A member of staff will direct you back to your seat.

Photography

The moment you cross the stage will be photographed by Tempest, our official photographers.

After the ceremony

Celebrate with us

Go Pitchside

All our graduates and guests will be able to go Pitchside straight after the ceremony.

You'll exit the ceremony via doors at the front of the auditorium (not the doors you entered by), and be guided by venue staff to make your way to the Stadium's Pitchside area to take photos and catch-up with your guests and fellow graduates and celebrate all you've achieved.

From there you can then head to your ceremony reception.

Ceremony reception

We invite you all for some refreshments in Lock 4 at Twickenham Stadium after the ceremony so you can toast your success with your friends, family, fellow graduates and academic staff. It's our way of sending you off in style.

Staff from the Alumni Association will also be there to chat to you and give you their free welcome gift.

Return your gown

You must return your gown on your graduation day unless you have made a special arrangement with the gowning company.

You can return your gown in Lock 4 before you exit the stadium, or if you want to return your gown later in the day (latest 7pm) there will be an additional drop-off point – ask the gown staff for details.

For a:

  • 10am ceremony – the ceremony reception will end at approximately approx. 1pm
  • 1pm ceremony – the ceremony reception will end at approximately approx. 4pm
  • 4pm ceremony – the ceremony reception will end at approximately approx. 7pm
