This final year module allows students to investigate and design a product of potential benefit to children and/or young people. Students will firstly identify an area of interest linked to a current issue, concern, gap or dilemma which may be local, national or international. They will then use the knowledge, skills and experience that they have acquired throughout their academic studies and placements to investigate and identify what could be helpful for children or young people. It specifically addresses programme learning outcomes on creativity, problem solving and communication skills and builds on learning about social pedagogic approaches introduced at Level 5. Seminars will focus on working productively as a group to investigate an area of concern then planning and creating a method of intervention. Students will be introduced to variety of methods and tools for engaging children and young people and will be encouraged to draw on what they learned during placements to develop innovative ideas. During seminars students are expected to present their ideas and findings in small groups and to receive and give feedback to their peers. This is intended to support their understanding and help them to develop their ideas.
