Dependent on personal circumstance in terms of current employment, qualifications, experience and career aspirations students will then pursue one of these avenues. Prior to commencing the activity learners will seek approval for the proposed activity by developing and presenting a rationale and justification. Students will build upon the employability skills developed during the study of LS4800 and will focus on higher order skill application when working with clients and performing a role in the sports industry. This module will be delivered through a variety of learning experiences, which will include lectures, workshops and seminars. The taught element will provide students with the underpinning knowledge and skills required to enable them to work within the Sports Industry. A large amount of the overall learning hours for this module are performed during the work placement/conducting of the industry professional development project. The hours must be completed up to a minimum of 120 hours that can commence following approval by the Module leader. Students will engage in research and preparation for arranging a work placement/industry based professional development project in the UK.
Students will participate in professional discussions with potential employers, project supervisors, module supervisor and personal tutor as appropriate. Students will produce a professional journal with critical reflective notes. Students will have the opportunity to critically examine theories, approaches and peer reviewed journal articles and review application to professional practice. This will develop a range of skills required to develop professional practice in the work place. Students will receive support from the module leader to secure a work placement and further support is available from the careers departments at KU and RuTC.
