Elaine Lustig Cohen (1927–2016) worked as a graphic designer in the 1950s and 1960s before turning to painting and collage, while maintaining a strong involvement in archival practice. She represents a direct link between early twentieth century European Avant-garde movements and later modern and postmodern practitioners.

Céline Condorelli (b. 1974) studied first as an architect, yet has constructed a unique and influential artistic practice through her investigation of ‘support structures' that allow for creative authorship to emerge, as well as exploring the historical and contemporary significance of exhibition display. Her work extends even beyond these enquiries to include writing, editing, publishing, and producing performative situations in which other actions may emerge.
